Armored Core: A New Order of "NEXT" is a book released in 2010. It contains trivia, concept design, as well as general information primarily on Armored Core: For Answer but also Armored Core 4. It is written in an in-universe style, framed as though fictional freelance journalist Friedman Ray is writing a new book about the history and state of the world by the time of Chapter 4 of Armored Core: For Answer.

A newsflash summarizing the ORCA Brigade's declaration of war in July and their subsequent attack on several Arteria facilities. It is also noted that although Cradles are manufactured only by Global Armaments (GA) and the Interior Union, the Arteria are owned by other corporations; additionally, Omer Science Technology rents or purchases some Cradles. Arteria facilities supplying energy to their respective Cradles are also identified.
An overview of NEXTs confirmed to be affiliated with ORCA, with particular focus on Julius Emery, Malzel, Maximilian Thermidor, and Old King. Old King is revealed to have joined them because his old group Liliana experienced heavy losses and the ORCA Brigade has similar views about the Cradles.
What sets ORCA apart from other reactionary groups is noted to be its considerable force of NEXTs; not even a single one of the ruling corporations can acquire a NEXT force the size of ORCA's.
Hari has been publicly identified as an ORCA member after he attacked an Arteria using his Collared-registered NEXT, prompting an investigation of Collared's roster.
Speculation of Thermidor's identity focuses on his NEXT's rare parts.
The in-universe author explains he wants his book to show the changes in the world to the Cradle populace. A short profile of the author reveals his name to be "Friedman Ray." Friedman then details the state of the world by that point and its prospects.
Profile of Takafumi Arisawa and his NEXT Rai-Den, followed by an interview with a GA engineer detailing the company's manufacturing process.
Profile of Wynne D. Fanchon and her NEXT Reiterpallasch, as well as an interview with an Interior Union engineer who designed the LR01-ANTARES and LR04-AVIOR as well as Melies's HLC09-ACRUX.
An interview with Fiona Jarnefeldt regarding the workings and status of the city-state Line Ark, her opinion of the ORCA Brigade, and information on White Glint. It is revealed that the timing of ORCA's declaration of war has diverted the League's attention away from Line Ark, allowing them to rebuild their strength from the sidelines.
History of NEXT development such as the involvement of Professor Jarnefeldt from the colony Anatolia.
Start of section for Arms Forts.
NEXTs were the most important forces for the corporations from the National Dismantlement War to the Lynx War, but the numerous Lynx deaths in the latter conflict and the vulnerabilities of relying on individuals convinced the corporations to instead invest on Arms Forts — power greater than NEXTs and managed not by a single person but by countless disposable workers.
"Arms Forts" are generally super-large mobile weapons but may also include Cradles. As their names imply however, many Arms Forts resemble mobile fortresses.

Information on the Cradles, the Ark of Humanity (人類の箱舟).
Orbiting the earth approximately 7000 meters above ground, these giant residential aircrafts house between 8 million to 20 million people away from the pollution on the surface. A single Cradle consists of formations composed of one to five airships. Twenty-one Cradle formations are presently in flight.
Cradles are still under construction and have yet to contain all of humanity. Migration prioritizes people from the major corporate groups and their affiliates, while those from the colonies are set aside.
Cradles vary by model but generally they are multi-layered aircrafts with an estimated 40 meter thickness for living quarters and a wing span of roughly 4 kilometers. The residential blocks are connected by an engine and an elevator shaft.
GA and the Interior Union make Cradles but these are also rented out to other companies. Omer, for instance, uses both GA and Interior Union ships.
Cradle engines may electrolyze hydrogen from clouds into energy, but it is the Arteria facilities that are truly necessary to Cradle operations, to the point that Cradle navigation routes are based on areas where Arterias can supply energy. This becomes problematic when ORCA specifically attacks said facilities.

Page 94: 50 meters are allocated to one household containing four people; 15,000 households are in one section; four sections make up a "Cave"; thirty-four Caves comprise a single aircraft, and one aircraft contains 8,160,000 people. A Cradle is 4 kilometers long.

Details on the Eclipse — Thunder of the Interior Union (インテリオル・ユニオンの雷) — such as its length and armaments.
Information about the Land Crab, the Mass Production-Type Arms Fort Representative (量産型アームズフォート代表). Details include differences between the GA and Interior Union versions, and it is noted that Land Crabs are the most popular Arms Fort and one of the biggest reasons for the declining prevalence of NEXTs past the Lynx War.
A report of the confrontation between the Bernard and Felix Foundation AF Spirit of Motherwill and White Glint partially depicted in Armored Core: For Answer's opening cutscene and trailers. Additional information on the fight include the timeline of in-universe events surrounding the incident.
